Liturgy and Motherhood in the Domestic Church
March 22, 2018 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Thursday March 22 at 7PM in the Library
What can we learn from the Sacred Liturgy, and how do we welcome it into our home? What does the Catholic liturgical imagination offer to us in inspiring us to pursue a deeper relationship with Christ in our family life?
Alexis Kazimira Kutarna has been involved in church music ever since she was a child. Alexis earned the Master of Arts in Liturgy at The Liturgical Institute at the University of St. Mary of the Lake/Mundelein Seminary, where she wrote her thesis on “The Sacramental Nature of Sacred Music.” She holds Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees in music, as well as a Performer’s Certificate. She has a special interest in the spirituality of liturgical music, and was privileged to study chant with Fr. Columba Kelly, OSB. She has served as a parish music and liturgy director and organist, working with singers of all ages.
Ms. Kutarna teaches courses on the liturgy, liturgical music, and Gregorian chant at the University of St. Thomas for the seminary, the permanent diaconate program, and the Master of Sacred Music program. She serves as the Director of Music at St. Mary’s Seminary in Houston, TX. Her most important vocation is as wife and mother: Alexis and her husband Jim have two beautiful daughters, and are parishioners at St. Theresa.
