Rorate Caeli Mass
December 15, 2018 @ 6:30 am - 7:30 am

Just as Advent is the beginning of a new liturgical year, and reminds us to keep vigil in anticipation of the Lord’s return, so this Mass, with its particular customs, brings us to the dawn of Christ. In the Rorate Caeli Mass you will notice:
• Begins Before Dawn: This is a stark reminder of our dependence on His Providence; without the Lord’s presence we are doomed to the darkness of sin and despair. Also, 6:30 a.m. is not the most fun time to be awake on a Saturday.
• Candlelit Church: Yet, we have been redeemed by the blood of His Cross. The dimly lit church encourages us to stay awake, to keep our lamps lit, as we wade through the trials and tribulations of this world.
• After Sunrise: Mass ends after Sunrise. So too we eagerly hope that our life ends within the life and light of the Church and Our Lord.
The word Rorate is the first word of the entrance antiphon for the Mass. In English, the antiphon is, “drop down dew, ye heavens, from above, and let the clouds rain down the just: let the earth be opened and bud forth a Savior.” We should pray with this text for the rest of Advent and thank Our Lady for saying yes to God’s particular call, for bringing forth into the world the Savior of us all. Please join us at 6:30 a.m. on Saturday December 15. Come early for a beautiful prelude.
